I have Windows 95, Pentium 200 MHZ, 32 MB Ram, 2 hard drives. I was checking things out and this is what it came up with:
(Model 2 Stepping 12)
64 byte Prefetch Queue
8 KB On-chip (L1) Data Cache
4 KB On-chip (L1) Code Cache
256 KB Off- chip (L2) Cache
Now for the question, shouldn't L2 Cache be on? Please, help. Thanks.

Dear Lynette: To answer your question: Yes, you always WANT your L2 Cache enabled to help speed up things. So Enable It!
Now, what I think the other person was referring to is the fact that the L2 Cache
was a separate chip which you had to purchase and put onto the motherboard independent of the microprocessor. Back when they were making 200 Mhz Chips, the L2 cache was NOT incorporated into the microprocessor...so the buyer had a choice...get the L2 Cache at extra expense, or have a MB without L2 Cache.Of Course, PII's and PIII's have the L2 Cache already as part of the package...so more modern computers get the L2 Cache. Now the L2 Cache is an integral part of the microprocessor itself!
The answer is: YES, always ENABLE L2 Cache, otherwise your computer is SLOOOOWEEERRR!

to agrre with the first response:
your L2 off-chip cache is already on, and it is telling you just that.
