KOKAD EASYSHARE CX6200

I have a Kodak Easyshare CX6200 digital camera, and it comes with the EasyShare software to transfer the pictures to your computer.
I recently did a recovery of my computer, and I'm having trouble installing it for some reason. I never did like the program in the first place.

Me mum has a digital camera (not sure what make) and she doesn't use software to transfer the pictures. She simply attaches the USB cable and opens MY COMPUTER, and her camera is marked as though it's a new drive.

THAT is what I want to do. However, whenever I turn the camera on, I get a message asking me to install a driver.

Does anyone know what I should do in order to get what I want?

Thank you!

Well, your mum is probably running XP.
Win98 needs drivers installed.
Most Win98 usb driver install programs are a real pain ... very confusing ... plug in now .. unplug now .... don't press this button ! move the window aside cause the correct button is underneith etc, etc, etc.
Then windows pops up asking odd questions like where is the driver after you just installed it. Only advice i have is just keep on trying.

My father has the exact same camera but uses XP and still insists on installing the Kodak software even though he has PhotoShop. However I have a Fuji fine pix camera and cannot run the software it came with on my PC but can still transfer photos as you would like to. Put your kodak disk in the drive and if it auto starts close the application. Now in Windows Explorer click on your drive with the Kodak disk in to explore it and just locate the driver on the disk and install it. You should now see the camera in Explorer when you plug it in and switch it on.

Happy snapping

Regards

Tried that.
Windows can NOT locate any drivers on that disc.
And yes, me mum IS on XP, however before she got that comp, she WAS on Win98.
However she might have had some sort of driver device.
*sigh*

I use several digital cameras and computers
to display my pictures or upload them to a drive. I always use a card reader to do this.
It is quicker and is less wear and tear on the camera and batteries. XP and ME will auto reconize the card reader. Win 98SE will have to install the driver that comes with the card reader to work. Hope this will
help you.

Yeah, I've got the same camera (and it's a really good deal for the money). I got the driver to install in Win98 and skipped the other "shovelware" included with the package. I just use IrfanView to view/manipulate the photos and upload them to Yahoo...

I tried the driver that was linked above, but when I try to install it, it keeps asking me to insert some Kodak disc that I don't have.

Mr. TRA, do you have a copy of the driver?

*hint*

Even when I try to install the software it won't work.

The disc is acting up.
I downloaded the software from the Kodak site, but I keep getting an error when I try to install.

Right now I have NO way of accessing my pics!

I am running win 98 se and had no problems installing the software, just plug the usb into the cam and up comes the editor and it will download from the cam, delete one or all pictures.

Ulead Photo Explorer ver 7. it will also let you select 3 editors to choose from.
and also MGI Photo suite 111.

I did nothing special, just dropped the disk in and clicked on intall!

I had exactly the same problem.

I downloaded the Sofwtare Easyshare, from the Kodak's page, but not the whole program, I selected the first option, (I don't know the name, I'm from Argentina, I suppose it could be something like "camera sharing") and now I can see the digital camera as another unit (F:) in My PC, without the software.

I hope you understand me, and excuse me for my poor english.

And I want to know, can I use my Kodak CX6200 as a webcam?

Thanks
