ps2 keyboard not responding at boot up. changed for another working ps2 keyboard and still not working. ps2 mouse not working when arrived at windows. changed for a serial mouse and mouse works. could it be something other than the keymoard/mouse ports on the mortherboard??

Hi Peter,
Control panel\system\device manager Click on keyboard + sign click on your keyboard to highlight it (if present) Click on REMOVE box click on OK Click on close, Now reboot and let Windows find new device and load the drivers for it(keyboard)

edward, thanks for the reply but the keyboard won't respond before getting to windows - esc, del or num lock keys not reacting and lights not flashed as if it wasn't recognized. tried yet another good keyboard and noticed that this time all 3 lights - num caps scroll - flashing thruout boot process and into windows. no other reaction though from keyboard when pressing any keys. is it still worth trying your suggestion or is the problem something more serious?

mouse working because I'm using a serial mouse instead of a ps2 one. okay removed keyboard from device manager and restarted with good working keyborard connected. device manager says it detected keyboard did its thing by adding keyboard to device list but thats about all. keyboard still doesn't function.
