keyboard doesn't work in IE 5.0

In IE 5.0, I can't type in search boxes within web pages. For instance, if I go to yahoo.com, I place the cursor in the 'search' box, but when I try to type, nothing happens. It's like my keyboard stopped working. I can type just fine in the URL box, but my keyboard doesn't work when I try to type in a 'search' box or any box where I need to type in data. I place the cursor in the field, start typing and the cursor just sits there. Any suggestions? Thanks for you help.

After you try online, will the keyboard work on any other application? Need to know that first.

A fellow teacher has asked me the same question. He uses AOL and I suggested he try IE too and both have no keyboard input in boxes (only), but the keyboard works fine otherwise. Oh, he also tried a different keyboard. What's up!!!
