i have been helping a friend with a computer that is having problems with there mouse and keyboard. The shop where it has been taken to says there keyboards and mouse work fine with no apparent problems? But when the machine is returned the mouse and keyboard do not work. This has been an ongoing problem for some time now, the shop has a switchbox that has 4 connections so they can work on 4 different machines at a time. Each connection for mouse keyboard and monitor all work fine on this machine, but when the computer is attached to a seperate keyboard and mouse they do not work. All manner of new mice and keyboards do the same thing please help!!

If the keyboard doesn't work, you shouldn't be able to get to where you discover the mouse doesn't work.

So...... can you please explain:
1 - does the keyboard not produce an error at boot-up?
2 - did you bring all 3 pieces to the shop?
3 - are you simply saying that they don't work in Windows?

More info... (and a wink to that 'poor post' people).

Crappy.
Have you tried USB also, or is it just the ps/2 ports?

Hi,

I'm assuming you're using a PS/2 Keyboard & Mouse....

If so, have you tried swapping the plugs around where they plug into the back of your computer ?

I'm not trying to undermine & state the obvious, but I've encountered a lot of people who've got the two plugged in the wrong way around.

It's easily done since both are the same size & shape.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Simon
