I've been reading up on the numerous posts on the problem with this Microsoft update. Does anyone know if the revised April 2005 version of this update is a background running program with an entry in msconfig, like the original?

The April one doesn't show up when you do Ctrl-Alt-Del though (earlier ones did).

So maybye when you see an entry in msconfig (if you don't do an uninstall)it relates to the earlier update? If you do an uninstall through Add/Remove Programs btw -it leaves the folder /files in the Windows System folder.I renamed mine to ".old". Bit confusing this one isn't it?

Downloading the newer update is all that should be necessary (the msconfig entry then refers to the new one).
Safest bet is to uninstall from CP/Add-Remove, delete the folder, reboot, then download update afresh.
