Common people there has to be a way here. If I have to delete all of Kazaa I will but I want to know if I can save it first. I just want this last update off there. The uninstall isn't working and I don't know how to fix it. Kazaa is running on start up which is a bad thing and if I delete it I'm afraid I'll mess up the bios, so how can I re-write that so that Kazaa and none of its components show up on start up untill I can get this resolved. I need an answer tonight because if it pulls this when my dad turns it on tommorow I'm in a totally bad way.

I think kazaa code was written to kill computers and you've just been standing in line. That said, you need to get rid of kazaa like sonny said and get your computer back. After you've fixed this thing with kazaabegone, spybot search and destroy, adaware6 and a good virus scan, I suggest you get online and do a bunch of reading about kazaa problems, how to avoid them and alternatives to kazaa.

I'm not on your case here, but you've been handed good advice...in the end it'll be up to you to explain to your dad why that machine doesn't work.

Good luck man,

Skip

You can go to Start Run msconfig and look at the Startup tab there. Unclick all the Kazaa stuff. That should stop it from loading. But, yes, you have had very good advice. Kazaa is the ONE program to stay the h__l away from. It is spyware, virus ware and every other kind of ware. It's junk. Dump it and don't even look back. Also, the RIAA is looking for for people just like you to sue! And Kazaa is their favorite place to look. Good luck.

Alright I got rid of it all. But I'm keeping some of my music files even though my dad wants them all off there. So what I did before I killed Kazaa was I transfered a bunch of the files in My Shared Folder to another remote folder. Is there a way I can lock that folder with a password or hide it so it's no longer visible?

Locking the folder might tick him off when he tries to view it.

Perhaps tucking it away might be better.

Using Explorer look for a folder that is never used by him. Preferably one that has sub folders.

Place your music folder in one of the sub folders with a name like 'Data' or some other non-descriptive name.

I found the solution. I just gave the music files hidden attributes and changed the view folder options so that they wouldn't show hidden files. That way he just won't see them period, but I'll always know where they are.

Burn and delete, and buy your own computer to trash.
Your Dad's job may depend on a working PC.
