5.25 jumpers - Dont think so... Might be the placement on the cable, but I don't recall any jumpers on a 5.25 drive... (do they sell the disks?)

You may be able to assign the drive assignment in Windows Device Manager...

I've got one setting on my desk, that I took out of a system this afternoon, it works real well as a paper weight now :-)
If you go into BIOS there under standard CMOS features you will have the option of setting what drive you would like to have as your A: & B: drives.

Normally the designation of a FDD is set by the cable you use to connect to the FDD controller.
The connection that has a twist in the cable is the bootable connection.

Raa

(ie there are no jumpers)

If the 3 1/2 drives were connected by floppy cables with the 7 wire twist then the jumpers shouldn't need to be changed. Otherwise, looking at the back of the drive:

pwr. 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 cable
conn. . . . . . . . . conn.
. . . . . . . .
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

With a twisted cable 15 and 16 should be jumpered for both a: or b: drive selection.
With a non twisted cable 14 and 15 should be jumpered for a: and 15 and 16 for b:
Also for typical AT installation 2 and 3 should be jumpered and 4 and 5 should be jumpered.
This is for the epson smd-300 which I believe was sold by sony also.

Just had the same problem w/ an Epson SMD-300 on an antique Gateway computer. Had to pull the ribbon cable off the 5 1/4" and connect to the 3.5", then configure the BIOS to have 3.5" as Diskette A and nothing for Diskette B. Left the 5 1/4 out, works!!
