I had problems with explorer in windows 95 operating very slowly and trying a suggestion,i changed the COMCTL32.DLL file in the system folder to the original, located in the windows 95 CAB files. The explorer problem was solved, but when i tried to open a jpeg file, an error message came up:
"The SHDOCVW.DLL file is linked to missing export COMCTL32.DLL:Init Common Controls Ex".
Has anybody got any ideas on how to correct this?

apparently the SHDOCVW.DLL file had also been updated and it is looking for the COMCTL32.DLL you had before extracting the original from the CABS. you could try extracting the original SHDOCVW.DLL also, but this could get messy with similar errors starting to crop up as certain files are expecting to find certain versions of DLL's...
you might want to run Windows Setup over your current install. it should fix any system file problems.
