Java and Sound don't work

Whenever I try to load a java applet in internet explorer 6.0, the browser freezes up. I have the latest version of java runtime, so that is not the problem. Also, coincidently, my sound stopped working around the same time as my java. I don't know if there is any realtion between the two or if i just did something that made them both stop working or what. I have an avance sound card, however, when i try to play a sound, I recieve the following message: "Crystal hardware not detected. Cannot run Audio Station. Check your drivers, and if this problem persists, contact your hardware manufacturer." This message occurs whenever I double-click on a .wav file. Any help would be much appreciated.

For your sound.. when you go to system in the control panel and look up your sound card does it have a driver installed? If not that is your problem, you need a driver.

Hi, I had a lot of trouble with the java also, so I downloaded java from Sun Microsoft. At www.java.sun.com never had a problem with mine since. I can play games and listen to my music at the same time where I couldn't before.
