its me again with alot of problems

well i tried to do a compaq quick restore but i have none of the orig. disk and didnt make backups or startup disks(stupid)i went in to the quick restore mode and after that it kind of rebooted and asked for a sytem disk hese i do not have im stuck i bougth system mechanic 6 didnt work wont boot the com fixed errors but thats it i got a new pc now but i want to fix this one or find out how to get all my stuff back off the other one i really would like to give it to family ,any help out there

i believe i need a quick restore disk the compaq part # is 124815-001 and they dont have it anymore its for a presario 5712

i have downloaded a start up disk win98 but it doesnt boot it kinda freezes maybe i burned it wrong

You can go to www.bootdisk.com download a boot disk for windows 98.It is a file to make a bootable startup diskette.You can't just boot with the file you download.In this case a new floppy diskette would be a good idea.The floppy diskette you are using could be defective.Windows 98 new on EBAY has became very economical.Finding a copy of old original restore disk is normally hard to do.It is possible a computer repair shop in your area could have one.
