1800 is just the model name, although it represents the comparitive speed between a p4 and itself

xp1800+ is equal to p4 1.8 ghz

Hello

Pentium being the reference, they call
Athlon 1800 a AMD processor able to work as fast as a P4 @ 1800MHz. For example my Athlon 1600+ clock is 1400MHz.

I view it as a marketing tool. They advertise a 1.5 chip as 1.8 so the when you price compare the AMD 1800 (1.5) to a p4 1.8 it's of course Cheaper
