I recently bought a new computer with Win 98. I am trying to connect my old Canon BJC-210 printer to it. The pc tells me that everything is working right, but I get no output from my printer. I downloaded the most recent drivers, to no avail. My printer works fine hooked to the old pc. I checked the BIOS (AMIBIOS) for settings on the parrallel port for compatibility. (My old pc's BIOS has this setting) But there is only 3 settings on my new PC. Normal, EPP and ECP. Which one covers the compatibility mode of the old bios?

The ECC, ECP, Bi-Directional, PS/2, etc. settings that some CMOS setup programs have only apply to newer printers and other parallel port devices (like ZIP drives). Anyway, your printer will work fine no matter what option you use. Have you setup the driver in Windows (probably, but thought I'd ask). Also, try a new parallel cable (bi-directional complience of the cable doesn't matter for this printer, but you might want to get one that is for the future). The parallel cable is often responsible for these problems, because the IEEE (one of the organizations that sets protocols and standards for electronic communications) has setup new ways for devices to communicate with the computer.
Also, if you can afford it, get a new ink jet printer. Every printer on the market today is better than the old (actually BCJ-210 would be classified as ancient) printers, in speed and quality. Also, you can get a good one (I.E. HP DeskJet 712C) for under $200, and it prints about as nicely as a laser printer, which costs at least twice as much!
I wish you the best luck...Cheers!
