Himem.sys is on the windows CD. Vmm.vxd is a composite file created during install, referencing all .vxd files in use on your system. It is diferent for every system. Al

You will not find vmm32.vxd on any disk of any kind. It is a virtual driver file that is created when Windows installs. There is no way to rebuild the file unless you have previously backed it up. The file itself contains compressed drivers. You can place the individual drivers in the same folder where vmm32.vxd is(or should be) and the system should work fine. For more info on the file:

As for the himem.sys you will not find it on the CD ROM either. A similar situation to the one above but a different kind of file..

himem.sys is not found under a search of the disk. It might be extracted as part of the files under the OLDMSDOS folder. But the file as named is not there.

Just to add as an important note the vmm32.vxd is specific for EACH machine AND EACH install. May not work if a backup is reloaded when new items have been added to system.
