OS: windows 98 (actually vista)
CPU/Ram: 2ghz intel / 2gb -- does it matter?
Product: Microsoft / Dos 6.22
Subcategory: Installation
Tags: cmd, XP, Vista, 98, 95, Windows, compatibility
Comment:

i have windows 98 in a virtual pc
is it possable to pop windows xp/visa
cmd.exe into 98 so i can run more advanced
things such as ping wmic and more advanced
set

also W-T-F is wrong with this forum
first it complained about my original subject
then it complained about the operating system
saying i have it put as vista --
SO WHAT 98 IS IN A VIRTUAL PC
JUST BECAUSE MY OS IS VISTA DOESNT
MEAN IT ISNT A QUESTION ABOUT 98
sorry about the outrage
i will try not to do it again

Not likely. Dos and 9X command prompt had a SETVER file you could load in config.sys to run commands from other dos versions. But XP command prompt isn't dos based although it looks the same so the commands wouldn't be transferable. If you haven't already done so you should probably familiarize yourself with similar commands available in 98 command prompt.

Oh, and a lot of people have complained about the difficulty of posting in a particular forum. I think it's easiest if you open the forum in which you want to post and go down to the bottom to where it says 'new topic' and go from there.

but cmd.exe is actually an exeicutable
so technically speaking it should work
p.s. i was just wondering why
it does detailed tests on the operating system field
i find it unneccary and frustrating
think of how it would be for someone new to the forum
