I have a creative labs soundblaster sound card in my computer and the IRQ setting is at 05, I have had it set to 10 before and when I reinstalled windows over once it set back to 05. I want it set back to 10 because I cannot listen to any sound files on the internet and my music sounds like crap. Also I cannot play some of my games I have on my computer because it says problem with IRQ setting on sound card. Windows will not let me change it now. It did at first but since I reinstalled windows it says windows cannot change these settings. Could you please help me out. Thanks!

Howdy, Well its not going to sound any better on IRQ 10 than IRQ 5, the IRQ has nothing to do with sound quality. 99% of all sound cards defualt to IRQ 5. Since you reinstalled windows and it changed the IRQ some of the programs are looking for the sound card on IRQ 10 still, you should be able to adjust the sound settings in those programs without a problem. As far as you're expanded memory problem, what does you're config.sys file look like?

pull out all of the cards. reinstall them one by one starting with video, then sound, then scsi (if you have it)(meaning, put in one card boot, then shutdown) windows will reassign irq's to the proper order.

Thanks guys. I have both problems fixed now I think. But I have another problem with my sound card. when I reinstalled my sound card everything is totally different. If I put in an audio cd the sound comes through the speakers fine but if I try to adjust the volume with the computer then nothing happens. And as soon as I go to shut the computer as soon as I click ok to shut the computer down the little sound icon in the taskbar disapears right away but everything else stays until the shutdown screen comes up. This problem has never happened before. Could you please help out again? Thank you.

I would be very grateful if someone could help me.
The problem that I have is that both the sound and a video cards that I have aren't recognised by my computer.
I have taken both cards out and re-installed the video card. Then, even when I run "Add Hardware" from the control panel of Windows 95, I get the message that no new hardware has been found!
If I put the sound card in on its own I can get it operating after running "Add Hardware" but the next time I boot up it doesn't operate again.
Thanks,
Mike Jenkins.

My friend has a Sound Blaster Live Value. We figgured out that it was conflicting with his SMC EZ Network card. His system kept locking up after the Windows ME screen showed up. Removing one card or the other allowed his system to work fine, just not with both the network and sound card installed at the same time. Any suggestions? Thanks
