I have a number of IRQ conflicts on my machine. I only found this out by looking system information thingy. I have a number of problems at the moment with things like the computer randomly crashing and the fact that i can't access my cdrom. Is this the problem and if so how do i resolve it?

Take all your cards out except video and reboot. Shut down and reinstall another card, reboot. Check for conflicts, if all ok shutdown and install next card.
When you do get a conflict, go back to the start( i.e just video) but this time install the card that causes the conflict first.
Keep installing the cards in different slots until the conflicts go away (hopefully).

I'll give it a try soon but i cannot reinstall my cards because most of the frivers come on a cd and my cdrom doesn't work. Thats the main thing i am tring to fix. It just states drive not accessible.
Thanks anyway 8O)

Hey, Graeme, just get yourself a win98 startup diskette with cd-rom support and boot up with it and select with cd-rom support. If you can access the cd-rom in dos then you know it is just a conflict or configuration setting in windows. If you have a yellow exclamaintion point next to the cd-rom in the device manager then it is deffinately a irq conflict. If that's the case then you will have to remove some of the other cards to get the conflicts resolved. You could try changing irq resources manually in device manager, but it is not easy and some cards won't let you change the settings (only removing and re-inserting will correct those) Good luck.

it doesn't work in dos. I don't think the cdrom problem is IRQ related but i need to fix some other problems i have which are irq related. Trouble is without the cdrom i can't install anything
