I have a problem whereby if I type the name of a computer at another site it will find it, however if I type in the IP address it can not find it. I can ping the IP address no problem and I have other PC's that work fine. There is nothing installed in the network settings other than client for microsoft networks, (as it needs to log into a domain.) and TCP/IP

If you can ping, that means you can find it. Where are you typing it? Try Ip and follow it with the share name. Example.
net use x: \\192.168.0.1\sharedfolder
or
net use x: \\computername\sharedfolder
And of course you need File and Print sharing enabled.

I am just typing it in an explorer window. There are other PC's that can see it fine in the same way. I tried the net use and from IP it did not work, from computer name it worked fine. I tried the same thing on a computer that did work and it works OK with both computer name and IP address. Looking into it further it seems that the computers that do not work are Win95b, however at another site there are win95b computers that do work. I have checked all of the network settings, including removing everything and starting again which made no difference.
Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated as I have not a clue!
