I installed an internal 100 Zip (ATAPI) in my P166 (gateway). All went well except the computer says the disk is 402MB, won't read it or format. The CD ROM is confihured as master on IDE secondary, and the Zip is slave . Help!

Thanks

Howdy, If you make the Zip drive the master on the secondary IDE port what happens? I would remove the CD-ROM from the loop if ya do this. I have seen internal zip drives do to many weird and wacky things, some want to be slaves, some masters and some set to cable select, some want to run off of the primary IDE port, some don't. You can contact Iomega if you desire to see what they can do for you our try the trial and error thing.

Laters,

Kevin The Tech Dude.

Just a thought, is your Zip drive listed in with the HD's in your CMOS/BIOS, if so change it to 'none' or 'not installed'. I had something like this in one P.C. [AMIBIOS] and Windows thought it was a 3½" floppy [B:]. This P.C. [AWARD Bios] had no problems.

I have an internal zip drive that isn't registered under my computer. It wa the E drive, but when my friend reinstalled windows on my computer, the zip drive just vanished. i have no boot disk for it or driver disk, and iomega tech suport won't help me because they don't directly make the internal drive, and OEM does. Please help me, I need to back up my hard drive, and no one seems to know where I can get the drivers to fix this problem!
