I have a contact that made a very big mistake during his backup to his backup drive. Instead of using the "append" option, he used the "overwrite" option. Of course his prior backup data became inaccessable. I've can not access the USB HD on my PC because it does not seem to have a FAT or NTFS compatible file system. Does anyone know about the Iomega file system and is there a way to recover the backup file that was lost?
Thanks,
Tom

So you connected his external HD to your computer to see if you can recover it?

That drive probably needs USB 2.0 and 98 SE as well as the drivers to recognize the drive. That may be why it's not showing on your computer.

Unless Iomega backup does things differently, any overwritten files can't be recovered. It's possible not all the files were overwritten and those should still be in place.

DAVEINCAPS,
As it turns out the client is using XP (not 98SE - he or I got messed up there). It is a USB 2 drive which I have connected to NT4. The connection is detected, but, the file system is not recognized (NTS4 vs NTS5). I think I'll either need an XP system or a driver for NT4 that supports NTFS5. Any Ideas?
Tom

NT4 does not natively support USB or NTFS5, anyway this has been reposted in the CORRECT FORUM:

hiho, While both your points are correct, I've 3rd party vendor support for USB which handles that interface quite nicely. The NTFS5 is quite another matter. I'm hoping to find 3rd party support for NTFS5 on NT4. It's a lot to ask, I know
