I am running windows 98 and when booting I get the blue screen with message Invalid VxD dynamic link call from APIX(01)+00002E78 to device "33FC", service 3. Your Windows config is invalid.Run Windows setup program again to correct the problem. To continue press Y. Your system may become unstable.

I ran setup again and the problem did not disappear. I removed my ZIP drive physically and all the software the problem disappeared. I reinstalled the zip dreive the problem returned.

Any advice would be extremely appreciated.

Your problem comes from your SCSII configuration. The message come from your Adaptec drivers.
Solution:
Uninstall your Adaptec drivers and reinstall them after you've cleaned the table of registers.
An other solution could be to copie the files APSIENUM.VXD and APIX.VXD from an other computer having a similar configuration to your computer but this could not work out. Just give it a try.

Good luck!

We ran SFC and extracted APIX.VXD from the .cabs into C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEMS\IOSUBSYS and the problem went away. Thanks for pointing us in the right direction

Try System File Checker (ie. SFC) in the
System Information's Tools menu.
