Help I am reformatting my hard drive. I erased the hard drive and try to reboot the computer using my windows 98 bood disk and I get a invalid system disk message---so I am stuck. It reads the boot disk and gives me this erro message---I can not get to a command prompt---I have the boot disk and the Windoes 98 CD and tried to reboot using both but get the same message Invalid system disk replace the disk and hit enter---what should I do???

hello heaviekevie,
1. Is your first boot device set to CD ROM ? 2. Is the CD working properly ? If you have access to another computer, try it out there.
It reads the boot disk and gives me this erro message
3. You mean when the machine is just switched on or later too ?
Athlon XP 2000+, 256DDR, 40GB Hitachi 7200rpm, yes, NOT a monstor machine now can see TV on comp!

Did you use the same win98 boot floppy disk to erase/format the hard drive which you have to boot of this disk to begin with to erase the drive in the first place? Try this same floppy in another machine?

Is this a Windows 98 Startup Disk made from Control Panel/Add-Remove, or it is one you downloaded?
If it was downloaded did you "create" the floppy on another machine (not just copy the download onto it)?
Assuming you used the floppy to erase the HD then tell us the exact commands you put in, and from which prompt.
