I've an 2000 model Emachine mother board which I just put in a new case. I am using a Maxtor 20GB hard drive. It has been partitioned and formatted on another pc. I am trying to boot to my A drive with a win98 boot disk. All I get is INVALID SYSTEM DISK AND SO ON. I checked the Phoenix bios and it list a 1.44 floppy drive. But there's not one listed in the boot sequence. It says: Atapi cd rom Removable drive Hard drive Network drive And thats it. What's going on?

Dear William, In your phoenix bios configure it to boot only from your floppy(the current floppy you use) or else you can go to any of your friends place and get his bootable floppy or make one @ his place. Sometimes the floppy might be the problem get a new 1 and try. Rgds, Raj
P.S. The Removeable drive is the floppy drive

Just to follow up...
Yes, the removable drive IS the floppy drive, but you can simply use the arrow keys and +&- keys to change the boot order to removable/cdrom/hard disk..or whatever you wish.
There are onscreen instructions too, I think..
Exit and save changes.

I have a similar problem here, except I think what happened was when it got formated, from dos, it didn't get the basic system files that it requires to boot properly. So now it only boots up to an invalid disk error. Any clue on how to fix this?

Erick - to transfer the system files from a boot disk, boot from the floppy & enter
sys c:
.. you'll see 'system transferred' if all goes well.
This assumes that the file 'sys.com' is on the floppy. Remove the floppy and boot (hopefully) from the HDD.
