Ok, this is an IBM 760el laptop. I bought a bunch and the "bad" ones worked!! I can get to the ibm startup but it wouldn't give me the option of using the cd to boot. Before it started windows 95 but would automatically go to C prompt.
I was following someones directions on the web to fix it, I know I know, and I had been trying for so long I accidently ran the command line for format.com. :) Now I get invalid system disk. But get this, I can boot with a boot disk made with my desktop computer running XP home??? I had ones for 95 and 98 but no dice?? OK I boot with this but I always have incorrect ms dos to run programs, I did get part of MAX BLAST to run but made things worse or I did?? I can also get to the help files on the ibm bios flash upgrade disk. I have tried every floppy known to mankind and all the normal dos commands, sys c, deltree, fdisk, either bad command or wrong version of ms dos comes up if I try to run from floppy??? I can take hd out and floppy and put in cd but cd has no drive on hd??
Thanks, baffled and not sleeping??
I did fix two before this!!
please email privately @ tecelatece@SoftHome.net
Thanks,
