Hi,

I had an invalid system disk error. I performed the typical resolution of performing a sys c: from a boot disk which partially fixed the problem. I now get the Win 98 startup menu with a message below indicating that the registry needs repair and to run the command prompt option. Whenever I select any option from the menu, the screen goes black for a moment and then immediately comes back to a command prompt.
So, I figure I will try and run the scanreg command but then I get the message of "Program too big to fit in memory".

The config.sys and autoexec.bat files are completly empty too....I dont think this should be a problem though, right?

Not sure if I could scan the registry the boot problem would go away or not.

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest running Windows setup (without a format!!!).

'Program too big to fit in memory' = 75% chance of virus.
If it is a virus it will be affecting all exefiles and comfiles.
Best Delete the partition, zero fill the drive repartition, reformat and reinstall.
By the time you've gotten into Safe Mode youd've wish you had.
