Comment: I Formatted The computer using FORMAT C: off the Win98 Boot Disk. After format all i get is: "Invalid System Disk Replace the disk, and then press any key" The Boot Sequence is [A: then C:], I,ve tried [C: then A:] too. I Have Made a new Win98 Boot disk and tried but it didnt work. and i get the message even with no disk in the drive please e-mail me crxweedgod@yahoo.com if you can help me out, thanks

Reply: (edit)After you've formatted the hard disk, you need to install an operating system. For example, if you're intending to use Win98 again. Boot from the Win98 start disk and select the one for CD-ROM drive enabled. Insert the Win98 CD into the drive and type this at the A: prompt - c:setup /is (The /IS switch is just to bypass the disk check which really bugs me!)

Reply: (edit)Unless you formatted using the 'format /s' command, this is normal - the hard drive is now completely blank. Boot from the floppy and enter sys c: to transfer the system files and allow you to boot the hard drive to DOS. If you're doing this in an attempt to install Win98, you may be better off getting a bootdisk with CD-ROM support from bootdisk.com - otherwise you'd need to configure the DOS drivers yourself (I doubt if a 75MHz would boot from the CD)

Reply: (edit)Yeah, we read your post - Invalid System Disk is what you get when there's nothing on the hard drive (damnit!) Apparently you "know" more then the folks that you're asking to help you... so good luck with that.

Reply: (edit)In general the only things that can cause this (in order of liklihood) are: Boot sequence not correct. A bad or non-system disk being used as a bootdisk. A bad or misconnected floppy drive. Floppy drive not identified properly in cmos. A bad or disabled floppy controller.

Reply: (edit)Is the floppy controller enabled in cmos? Have you tried the bootdisk in another computer to verify it works? Is the floppy drive properly connected?

Reply: (edit) When you check your 98 boot disk in your other system, you did it like this? 1. Boot the system 2. Chege the boot siquens to A: then B: 3. Boot up whit 98 stat up disk (98win boot disk) At this point you should be on an A: prompt. If you are on an A: prompt you can say that your start up disk is ok. I assume that this was the order you used when you formated your hard drive. If there is any vatiation on this let me know and we will try to work it out.
