Comment: Please help, I've not seen this before. I'm setting up a new pc. The BIOS auto detected the Hard drive and CD. However, after booting from a startup disk I get the following message, "Invalid media type reading drive C." Is this a bogus hard drive or what?

Reply: (edit)This could be because either your hard drive is not partitioned and formatted or maybe is set as a SLAVE, or it has no active partition set. More info about what you are running please.

Reply: (edit) I'm setting up a barebones machine with Celeron 533, Seagate 8.4 drive. I am trying to partition and format the drive. Rechecked the jumper it is set to master.
