I have a Compaq Presario 7360 with a built in sound card and a built in video card. I also have an SIS 300/305 Video Card in the computer. I'm wondering how can I change the interrupt request on either the video card or the sound card so I can play Everquest with sound. If I play the game with sound I get the Blue Screen of Death no matter how many times I try to play.

go into start | settings | controlpanel | system | device manager. then go to your video\sound card and press properties then click the tab called recources then untick use automatic setting and then click the IRQ and press change setting. let me know if this helps

When I follow what you said there is no interrupt request thing in the box. The sound card has one and I tried to change it but it would not let me.

it might not let you because the device is in use. try going into safemode and changing it.

I went into safemode and was able to change it. I changed it to 6 which is also my Standard Floppy Disk Controller so my computer would only boot up so far but I was able to get back in and change it back. How many IRQ numbers are there? Are there any "safe" ones I can change it to?

when you press "Change Setting" and your cycling through different IRQ numbers switch it to one that says "No Conflict" in the box below it. if there is none then go to "Device Manager" and Expand the entry named "Ports (COM & LPT)" and if your not using one of those ports (most likely you only use one for your modem and one for your printer) go into the properties of it and tick the box that says "Disable in this Hardware Profile" then go to your sound/video card and change it to the IRQ that the port you disabled was using. remember to do it in safemode. let me know if this helps.
