Comment:
whenever i'm downloading a file that takes more than 30 min. (and i'm not sitting at my computer) the connection gets interruptet because "not used" for 30 min. i would miss the window where this message is prompted, and so the connection suddenly is interruptet. i've already unchecked the box in the modem-configuration. what else can i do?

get software that answers those prompts or get a software program that pings other sites. This will keep you connection open.

you can try www.killtimer.com and see if this guy has a "generic" program to address your disconnect problem. he had written one for AOL when aol was hanging up on people's computers sitting idle. it worked fantastically, but again, he wrote it several years ago for AOL users. visit his site and see if he has a generic program.

zdnet has some download(s) called something like "stayalive" (I forget, but I've seen it on my email from them of daily downloads or whatever). Try Google.com search something like "internet connection shareware freeware" might find it. Good luck!
