What purpose does this file serve? Mine is holding 9MB's of space. Should this be emptied periodically? Thanks,

interlog, do you mean the temp folder?

the folder is made so when you visit a webpage, it acts as a cache downloading all the pictures and things you see, that way when you click back, the page wont have reload everything again.

i dunno know what the intenetrlog is.

I am also not sure what you mean by internet log, but if it is not the temp folder you are referring to, it may be the internet history file. Both can be accessed through the tool bar at the top.. click tools, internet options. In the "general tab" you can clear out the history file plus set the amount of days it holds the information.

mooseboy84;

The folder or file I am referring to is titled "Internet Log". It is located in Windows Explorer>Windows>Internet Logs. Just curious how important these particular entries are. Thanks,

C:\WINDOWS\Internet Logs
contains the Zone Alarm log files. I have been using ZA for a couple of years and my folder has a combined total of 1.8mb in 4 files all dated today:
backup.rdb     658kb
lamdb.rdb 658kb
OEMCOMPUTER.ldb 552kb
ZAlog.txt 1kb
What does yours contain that is different than mine?

Oops, sorry about the double post. Had a problem with getting the spaces after the file names and the file size.

Bryan;

rDB (w/numbers) TMP (80 of them) Make up most of the entries.

With the recent update of Z/A 3.1.291 not protecting Mailsafe .exe attachments, are you comfortable with that? I am led to believe version ZAF 2.6. did in fact protect .exe. I am tempted to stay with 2.6. What are your views? Take care,

JimmieC.
Any of the files that are not dated with today's date can be deleted wihtout any concern.

The previous version of ZA's Mailsafe covered (on my machine) 46 different extensions including .exe

The new version only does one .vbs.

I have already upgraded and apparently there is no going back once you do. I upgraded to the newer version of Script Sentry to cover several extensions that are no longer covered by ZA.

In my opinion, if I had known that the new ZA Mailsafe did not cover the 40 something extensions, before I upgraded, then I would have stayed with the older version.

You can see the number of or specific extensions covered by mailsafe by going to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\MailSafe Extensions
In the registry.
Mine are still listed but they are not covered anymore. I tested them to find out for sure.

Thanks for the information you shared. I think I am going to stay with the 2.6 version of Z/A. At least for now. Thanks again, Take Care.

When your zone alarm (ZA..) log gets too big, just open it in a text editor (eg NoteTab, great fabulous can't-live-without freeware on the net) and delete everything. It's in text format.
I have three log files, one is from Zone Alarm, one is from MS Access (.ldb) and the other is called lamdb.rdb - looking at the latter in Quick View plus, can make out the words "win95"... "Dane"... "All Users" and "[EVERYONE]", no idea what that is, it's from a week ago.

"I have already upgraded and apparently there is no going back once you do."

Can you not un-install the 3.1 version if you choose, and install 2.6? The older version may be available to you at this link: http://download.com.com/3000-2092-8034258.html?tag=list
Sorry I don't know how to make this address a click/a/link. Take care,

Yes, you can uninstall V3 and go back but you never get the mailsafe extension protection again.
I believe the extensions are installed so in the event you decide to upgrade to the Pro version the registry entries will already be there.

I have grown to like the new version better than the previous. Particularly, the new version does not flash the little 'a' everytime you get hit. It is 'quieter'.

Also, after using it for a week or so now I have not experienced any disconnects with my cable modem. It was suggested in other posts that the old version had this effect. I could never actually attribute the disconnects to ZA but I have not had one since the new version.
