Help my internet has slowed down by a lot! I did the 400k image test on toast.net and this was the result..... http://performance.toast.net/results.asp?testtype=2&loadtime=7.36 . But 3 months ago i used to get 2000k+ and the page loaded instantly. I don't no why this happened. Can anyone please help me. Thank You In advance. OH and By the way im using shaw high speed cable internet.

Do you do the necessary maintenece items like eptying the temp internet files and off line contenet, defragged your harddrive, set the advanced temp internet settings to something between 20-80mb? Do you have Spybot and Adaware(both are available at http://www.wilders.org/) installed, updated and have you ran their scans recently to keep all the spyware off your system? Any unusual outgoing traffic requests by your firewall?

steven, Cable networks slow down depending on the number of users on your node. If more of your neighbours sign up you split the speed with them. If you're the only one on your street you fly but if everyone signs up you crawl. Try it at 3:00 AM and see if it's faster. If so, it's just the number of customers in your neighbourhood growing and you can't do anything about it. If not, you need to look elsewhere. I get much better speeds when i reboot (unplug it for ten seconds and plug it back in) the modem twice a day. Also rebooting your computer at the same time can help.
