hello, i have a question in regards to a download of internet explorer5.5... i went to the microsoft website and tried to download the new ie, i have 4.0 on my system and have win98...after it downloads the exe file i try to install it...it is set up to where it loads components from a web site, so i have to be online while it does it...so i let it install and it gets half way, and then it brings up an error "setup was unable to download the required components. Pleas make sure you are connected to internet or run set up later", i click ok, then the next message behind it says: "The file you requested is already in your list, if you want to download it again please remove it from the list first" i am connected, i tried twice, it got stuck in the same place, and also i looked for a file name to delete and i dont know what file its talking about because it doesnt tell me anywhere... if anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know.

Install IE 5.0 from the Free KMART Bluelight CD, then upgrade from there online

Unless you want to post more problems to this forum, just stick with IE 5.01 (5 w/SP1). There's no advantage to installing 5.5.

Please listen to the advice of Vod above. You really do not want 5.5. 5.01 is very stable. 5.5 is a mess.

The same exact thing happend to me and its really making me mad. I think it was because like half way through we dl and installed the new encryption protection thing IE501DOM.EXE, and thats why it says we already got it. I have no idea how to get rid of it so we are screwed.
