not every time, but many times when IE is being run it pops up an "internet error and one of the window2s you were using will be closed. It is recommended that you save your work, close all programs, then restart your computer" This comes after it says you have performed an illegal operation. I have tried installing the latest version of IE, but that hasnt seemed to fix the problem. any help is appriciated, thanks in advance.

Run system file checker (start>run>type:sfc)
Look for older-version and corrupted files.
Go into system information, tools, I.E. repair tool. A list of file versions for your browser is here as well - check for older files, especially .dll type in C:\windows\system
Hope this'll help!~

For the record, a plethora of error messages is not "...an IE bug that almost everyone faces.... " I don't, and have found I.E.5.5 to be remarkably stable and free of these...
However, just a couple of system .dll files corrupted or of an older version (quite often inadvertantly installed by game CDs or from downloaded (and installed) software can translate into many "illegal operations", and make surfing a bummer...
hope this helps.., tm.

happy computing!
