Hi Mucka,

Quite a few possibilities.

In IE, go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings and ensure that you're using the correct proxy as mentioned by your ISP.

Download the latest MS IE(with Service Pack) from Microsoft site and restart the machine.

Remove any popup programs that might be present in the machine by using cwshredder.exe, Spybot and Ad Aware resp.

Lemme know if that helped...

Anuj, Sorry for my ignorance.
Proxy - "Acting as substitute for another"

Why would your ISP need you to use a proxy?
Why not connect directly to your ISP?

Good thought, Bryan!
Bypassing ISP proxies/gateways are the IN thing these days.
ISPs are increasingly becoming 'clever'. They're reducing traffic on their Network by setting up third-party proxies...and one out of every 3 people(as per the Stats in India) are being re-directed thru those.

Anuj, using a proxy in no way reduces the traffic through your isp's network. It just adds a few steps to your internet traffic, kind of like taking the long way home. Useful if you use an anonymous proxy in that it hides your identity (to some extent), but otherwise pretty much a waste of time and bandwidth for everyone involved!
