My problem is that when i try to load www.google.com, it just doesn't load. Says something like server is down or can't be loaded. But every other page on the internet loads with no problem, even google group pages.

Clean out your cookies and temp inet files and try again. Google loads a cookie... it may be that one on your system is broken.
To do this: Close all instances of IE. Go to internet options in the control panel. Under temporary inet files click on Settings. Click on the view files button. Click on the first item in the list. Hit Control + A to select them all. Hit Delete on your keyboard or right click on any blue area that is selected and choose delete.
Once that is done... click all the ok's. Close the control panel.
