I was using explorer 5.5 and would be cranking along with my DSL and all of a sudden the browser just stops letting me surfe for about 1min and then kicks back in. When I use opera, I did not have this problem.
Just upgraded to explorer6 and the same problem still occurs.
Can't use opera anymore because my yahoo DSL recognizes it as msie5.0 and apparently that is not compatible any longer - it keeps sending me to the update page. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance.

A format and re-install of windows is one way to fix any internet explorer problems but if you desparately want to keep for programs there and don't wanna take the time to re-install then I suggest you try mozilla. Its a free browser. You can download it by clicking coppying and pasting this link into your browser http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.5/mozilla-win32-1.5-installer.exe
Netscape is another good, popular browser that you might want to take a look at: www.netscape.com/computing/download/
Hope that helps

I have the same problem, IE 6 stalls (so does outlook express) the rest of the PC is fine. I'm on dial up and my ISP says its my machine.
It stalls for about a minute then everything kicks back in.
Have you had any luck fixing it?
tom

I had the same problem, and I fixed it by, updating Ad-Aware, ran it, then I ran cws Shredder, then I reset web settings, then made sure I had CFMSN_DUA_TCP/IP, restarted then it started working perfectly.
