Comment: System went nuts and directory names became garbage. Windows was gone and when I come up in dos it says theres no operating system so I reloaded using W98 upgrade. Before it would start it did a disk scan and renamed a lot of directories because of garbage names. Now windows comes up and it looks like my stuff is still, and everything looks like before except when I dial into the internet I get a connection but when I start Internet Explorer no matter what web page I try to go to it comes back and says it can't find it. I'm connected OK just cant browse any websites. Anybody know what the problem might be?

Reply: (edit)Try going to Control Panel Add/Remove Programs, select Internet Explorer, click remove. It will then give you an option to "repair".

Reply: (edit)Forgot to mention I had already re-loaded IE 5.5 and after that I did the repair on it and neither worked. I downloaded the lspfix that JayT suggested and ran it and now everything works fine! Thanks JayT, that was right on, handy little prog to keep around!
