Comment: My Internet Explorer does not set my default home page to yahoo, even though I had changed the browser's internet property home page to yahoo. I have tried setting my default home page to yahoo.com a couple of times but everytime I connect to the net, I always get this site: http://213.159.117.134/index.php I have an avast anti-virus installed and it always detect some trojan virus (at least 4) being downloaded everytime I connect. I want to set my default website to Yahoo.com, but the other site (http://213.159.117.134/index.php) is always the one that comes out...... Please Help me! What do I do.... deltaquadrant

Reply: (edit)You should also have a malware finder/fixer on your machine, such as Ad-Aware. You could also try this Trojan finder if CWS doesn't fix your problems (worth running later anyway): A2FREE - JUST DOWN THE PAGE When you reckon you have fixed all of your problems add SpywareBlaster to your collection. This does not run in the background and uses no resources. It doesn't fix problems after the event but it stops malware taking hold at the outset. All three are free programs. Derek.W

Reply: (edit)Re Colin's post. I've never had these problems with IE but sure, lots of folk reckon Firefox is good (well, at least until the hackers take more interest). You still have to get shot of whatever nasty is causing this first though. There is no point changing browsers while you have malware/spyware in your system. It might hide them but they will still be there. Derek.W

Reply: (edit)First and foremost update your Java package as the Byte Verify Exploit is how that nasty got onto your system to begin with. See this site Update 816093 is build 3810 MS Java (5 meg download) which is immune to the exploit and was released two years ago when the exploit went public - where were you that you didn't hear about it or the fix for it? Windows Update - never used it, never will? I can only assume yes and that you got what was coming to you. http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/ http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/data/tshoot.htm Then do all the removal stuff and you won't be reinfected as soon as you clean your system. Which happens quite a lot when the 'update - not me' type don't have a clue in the first place of how they got bit in the begining. Otherwise it's an endless loop - you can buy them books and send them to skool, but all they want to do...
