OS: WIN98 IE version 5.5(I think the newest) My Internet Explorer Crashes every single time I exit. It gives me some error about kernel32.dll. I tried restoring kernel32, and fixing IEbut it doesn't help. I think the problem originated when I installed my HP cdwriter 9100i. I think it causes some illegal operation at the same memory address as the secondary IDE where my cdwriter is hooked up. Can anyone help me?

Many similar such problems are caused by so-called 'spyware' installed with many free-apps. They run in the background and cause numerous conflicts, particularly with IE5.5
Go here: http://www.lavasoft.de/
and d/l and run the Ad-Aware program which will remove them.

I had the same problem...every time I closed the window in my browser. I searched numerous sites for information and came to the conclusion that memory settings had to be changed. I downloaded Cacheman and have tried various settings. On my third now. First two ran alot better but occassionally I'd get the error message but I was able to get rid of the error message window (mine wouldn't go away no matter what I did). At least I didn't have to shut my computer down every time. I'm trying the setting for power user right now and so far no error messages. Hope this helps.
