internet explorer 6 setup file

i have download the final version of ie6.0 final version about 10 times to try to get it to work, when i click on the exe file it keeps saying "A REQUIRED SOURCE COULD NOT BE FOUND" , what does this mean , it just doesnt want to extract, any help would be appreciated. thanks

Paul, When you download IE6, you originally download only the setup file, and the rest of the program downloads from the internet as the install progresses, so you must remain connected to the internet during setup. The preferred method is to select "Run this program from it's current location" . That way you get the entire install from start to finish. Al

hi al thanks for getting back to me, i did tried it staying connected to the internet and it still is the same message. i personally think the setup file is corrupt, what do you think

Unfortunately, I have a difference of opinion about downloading IE6. I feel you should use the Custom setup and hit the advanced button. There you can choose to download only. The reason for this is 'you have the setup files' if you ever need to reinstall! Also make sure you download the correct version for your version of Windows.

Oh, and keep in mind....... IE6 will NOT work with Win95.

I just installed IE 6 using the downloaded setup file from cnet and everything went smoothly. If you still have a problem, you might want to try there, or you can always go directly to the Microsoft Update site. I am using the new browser right now, and the main difference I see is that it is much, much , much faster than the old one. Looks like a very worthwhile upgrade so far, just for the speed increase if nothing else.
