Internet Explorer 4.0 will run on a 486 with 16 MB of ram. A typical installation is around 22 MB if I remember correctly. I would advise to go with a later version if you can. Using Internet Explorer 4.0 I used to encounter script errors very frequently, leading to interactive elements in web pages not working.

Dude get a Dell lol just kidding But seriously you realy need to install at least IE5 or IE5.5 you can install custom mode and it will take alot less space you just need to know what you aren't going to use. You can always add things back on later if you find you need them But the minumum will work it won't let you not install something you need and by the way how much hard drive space do you have surely you have close to 1gig I ran with a either it was 640 or 680 MB hard drive for a few years and had windows95 and IE5 before I got another pc and had room for alot more stuff to.
