Two issues: First issue is broadband (i.e., cable modem) connectivity issues. Brought computer from friends house that has broadband connection (Internet working) to my house where I have same (metrocast vs. comcast). It worked great here while I upgraded her Win98 (latest service packs, spybot, defrag, etc.). When I brought it back to her place, I didn't have/get Internet connection. At the point where I considered doing ipconfig /release, a browser window indicated internet connectivity (i.e., yahoo.com browser window came up). Left thinking all was well, only to have her call me later saying she has no Internet connection. Advised her to unplug cable modem for period of time and retry. Anyone have any other suggestions? TIA

We also use broadband, and that happens to us ALOT. But what I do when that happens is just restart the computer. And that usually fixes it.
Other than that, hit the reset on the cable modem.
If it still doesnt work, I would suggest she call her companies tech support they are usually really helpful
