I installed a new ethernet outlet, the old one was a phone plug connection. The new ethernet card will not work. What do I do?

If you bought one with a coax connection, take it back and trade it for one with the right connector.

You installed an Ethernet "Card" and want to use that instead of a dial-up modem? Is that what you're saying?
If that's the case, then you either need to use the new card in conjunction with a Cable Modem or DSL in order for the Ethernet card to do you any good. It certainly WILL NOT work with a phone cord using dial-up.
But, perhaps I completely misunderstand what you're trying to say.

Contact your DSL provider. You should have received instructions from them.

If you're having trouble, forget about using the Ethernet card with your DSL modem. Disconnect the network cable and use the USB Cable instead.
