Comment: Hi all, Im having trouble with my internet connection. When the modem has dialed up it connects ok but the bytes rec/sent frequently stop, then go slow, then fast then stall again, disconnecting programs like mirc/msn etc and explorer is extremely slow. Im currently using IE6 but had the same prob with IE5. My modem is a MDP3880 56k PCI. Would this be a problem with my ISP (telstra aust) or is it a prob my end? Any suggestions appreciated thanx

Reply: (edit)I don't think this is necessarily a problem at either end. This also happens on broadband. The speed at which a network can run is limited by the slowest link divided by the number of users. The internet in general needs an upgrade. A good Australian resource is whirlpool. Peruse some of their forums.
