For months now I've been experiencing internet connection pauses, where I click on a link and it waits for up to a minute before opening the page. This happens every 5 minutes at least, and has been pretty annoying.
I'm on Windows 98SE and Tiscali broadband 2Mb.
I've done some research and found this connection pausing to be a fairly common problem with ADSL, but in all the answers I've seen I can't understand what people are on about so I can fix the problem myself!An example is here:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/rem...The third post says: "The other solution is to remove TCP/IP properties (hit the delete key) for the ethernet card connected/associated with your DSL."
But how do I know which is the correct one to delete?
(By the way, I would post in that topic on that forum except it was started in 2000, and the rest of the forum looks more like an experts-only occasion!)
But I've right-clicked on Network Neighbourhood and gone into Properties and found the TCP/IP ones listed, which are:TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter #2 (VPN Support)
TCP/IP -> Intel(R) PRO/100VE Network Connectionbut don't want to be deleting any without knowing what I'm doing!
Can anyone help?Thanks.
Dave.

Well I've found out the answer now, which is to delete the entry:
TCP/IP -> Intel(R) PRO/100VE Network ConnectionThanks for all the replies!
Dave.
