Hi, my internet connection hangs/ suspends a lot. From one moment to another it stops downloading/ uploading, to another moment when it starts again. I am using win98, norton util, and one online game I play (rune hov) seems to be not as much bothered with this problem as my ie5. though the problem already existed before I played online games.

I had the same problem with my @home browser {the browser supplied by my cable company}, which is based on Internet Explorer. The problem went away by reinstalling my browser software. Now I keep more than one browser on my system. If I'm having a connection problem, I can switch to another browser to see if that was the problem. Opera and Netscape are both good, but Opera is much faster and less bulky. Hopefully someone else out there will have some better advice to help you.

Does your ISP have more than one access phone number in your local calling area? If so I would also try connecting through another number to see if that improves your connection. Most ISP's give you the specifications for each phone number and sometimes the phone numbers each have different specifications, i.e. 56k, 2800-9600, etc. Be sure you're dialing a number that closely matches your modem's cababilities. What ISP are you using?
