Here's a site with list and links....but be careful what u choose...they likely load u up with spyware and some likely not very secure...and support is likely nil to none.

Two things come to mind real quickly.
1. How are you going to connect to the Internet. There are no non-ISP numbers to get on the Internet. There is a slight chance that a few large companies might allow dial-in to their servers, and then once connected, connect to the Internet. That would be very few and far between, if it exists anymore at all, or if it ever did. DSL and cable Internet have to be connected on the other end, read ISP.
2. Even if you could some how physically connect to the Internet, how are you going to get a valid IP address? ISP, that is how.

on techtv thescreensavers they were talking about being able to connect, by hacking into unsecure wireless networks, using a program. if you search google you might find what they were talking about.

By being your own ISP. You will have to pay for the connection to the backbone.

Reminds me of the couple who bought a computer from me last year! Asked me several times if i was sure it was internet ready. They got it home, called me up and exclaimed that they could not connect. Went over to their house, they did not even have telephone nor cable service in their mobile home! Oh well!
