I have a quick question, I hope someone can help.
Are the serial cables which attach to the motherboard matched to particular types of motherboards IE: are they universal.
I have a motherboard (FX Chipset running an old pentium 100), but I can only find one serial cable to connect to the motherboard.
I know that both com1 and com2 work on the board, as I can swap the known working cable to each port on the board, and it works. I have tried over 30 different DB9 cables, but can't find another one to work. Interested to know if anyone has ever come across this problems.
Thanks
Andrew…

If you are talking about the ribbon cable that goes from the back panel to the motherboard, they are NOT universal.
