1) My Problem: Intermittent freeze of Mouse and clock.
2) My System: New computer bought in July 1999 from a local assembler. CPU is AMD K6-2 3D 450MHZ. 64MB memory. ATX Midtower case. Motherboard is P5A
ASUS.
Preloaded with WIN98 SE and MS Internet Explorer 5.0. 8 GB Hard Drive.3) Problem Details: While using computer, whether showing desktop or when in the middle of using various programs, or even while viewing various websites, my mouse
motion will intermittently freeze. Simultaneously the clock time indicator at lower right corner of task bar freezes for the same period of time the mouse remains frozen. But after a
short time, say about a minute, both elements unfreeze for a randomly short time, and then refreeze. This problem started about two months ago; mouse and clock worked normally
before then. My BIOS battery checks out OK on the computer assembler’s workbench. And although the clock on the taskbar can loose many minutes over a period of an hour
or so, a reboot and view of The BIOS shows its time remains correct. Similarly, dropping into MSDOS from desktop and entering the “time” command responds with the correct
time. (Same with date).
When I go to Control Panel and click on the Date/Time Icon, the only response is the appearance of an “Information” message stating: “An error occurred while Windows was
working with the Control Panel file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\TIMEDATE.CPL”.
This same message comes up whenever I click on the taskbar time indicator. It no longer shows the usual clockface with sweep second hand and the means to change date and
time. I believe I’ve properly replaced the timedate.cpl file from my WIN98 CD, to no avail.

I have the same problem. I feel its a memory problem. I started using a program called RamFix and I think its all be gone now..
