Subject: Intalling Windows 98 from formated hard disk
Comment:

I believe that I have really screwed up here is what I did. I formated a friends hard drive and not thinking I didn't have a book disk from his computer because I already had one that windows had made for me on my PC. When I attempt to boot from this disk everything works untill I attempt to use the CD-Rom (which is kind of important. It doesn't work becuase it is looking for my CD-R drive and he has a standard CD-Rom. What can I do to install windows 98? E-mail me if you know what to do.

Thanks
Brady

Hey

This isn't a problem mate !!!!

Go to the following url and download a bootdisk from there. Then unzip it onto a floppy disk....

http://www.bootdisk.com

You shouldn't have any problems accessing the CD-ROM then and you'll be able to reinstall Windows.

Check out my article on Reinstalling Windows if you need any more help ::::

"CDR101:Not ready reading drive D Abort, Retry, Fail?"
Reason: The CDROM is upside down, or the CDROM isn't in the drive.
You booted up DOS, all settings are correct for hard drive and settings are correct for the CDROM drive. The setup command was probably given at a D prompt and there wasn't a CDROM disc in the CDROM drive. CDROM drivers are loaded correctly; otherwise, you do not get this error. Note; other commands at the D prompt produce the same error such as dir.
